Swami in scandal defends himself

THE much-talked about spiritual guru Swami Nityananda, who was embroiled in a sex scandal with a young South India actress recently, has defended himself, saying that the truth will prevail, Tamil Nesan reported. The 32-year-old swami, who was released from prison after spending 53 days on rape charges, said that the purported video of him and the actress did not affect him spiritually. He said that spiritually, nothing had changed, pointing out that the truth is “always the same”.The only change was on a social context – from being one of the most watched gurus on YouTube to one of the most watched scandals. The swami defended himself against claims that he sexually exploited women, pointing out that more than 23 million women had attended his programmes and “not a single one” lodged a complaint against him.He said that the devotees were beginning to understand the truth. The swami hit the headlines in March after a purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with the actress was aired on local TV channels.
